To be chained means to be held back from what you believe in. It means to be put down for no real or true reason. When we are chained we cannot walk out of reach of our chain. We are held back from walking freely. Being chained brings us down, and we can't see the light. Our small hope for change wanes and we do not know what to do. When being chained, we are broken inside.

I agree with what you said about being chained because being chained means having no freedom or the right to stand up.

I agree with both what Faith and Samantha said. To be chained means not having equal rights and being limited physically and mentally. Also what Faith said being held back from the things you believe in.

The song “Yellow Triangle” is based on the quote from Martin Niemöller. Niemöller is talking about the Nazis’ rise to power. At first he supported Hitler, but when control over religion started, the pastor refused to praise Hitler and was sent to a concentration camp. I think the meaning of this quote is to have courage to stand against what’s wrong before it backfires on you.

The Triangles talked about in the song are not from Niemöller’s quote but were ways of identifying prisoners of concentration camps. For example a red triangle represents political enemies such as liberals, royalists, and communists. A brown triangle represents gypsies. A yellow triangle represents a Jewish person and often would have another colored triangle crossing it, forming the Star of David. The overall meaning of the song is to speak up and not wait for your triangle to be picked.

Does everyone deserve to be free? I think everyone deserves to be free if they have not done anything wrong. Some people think you shouldn't be free if you are a certain race. People also think women cant be free or have the same rights as men do, i disagree on both of these things. People shouldn't be treated differently if your rich or poor. Everyone should get a chance to be free and if they mess it up and do something wrong those rights get taken away from them. Everyone in this world deserves to be free.

I agree with this statement because everyone is born with equal opportunities to succeed. Unfortunately, some people are born with mental, physical, and other disabilities that prevent them from succeeding. Whether a person is rich, poor, disabled, etc. they deserve to be free. People may not understand how they express their freedom but everyone finds a way to do it.

What are your rights?

Everyone has different rights that they should not be restricted from. Everyone has the right to be free. Many different groups of people have been restricted from freedom throughout history (and currently), especially for religion, gender, and race. An example of this is any form of slavery. Everyone has the right to be treated justly no matter what race, gender, religion/beliefs, political views, social status, etc. Everyone has the right to protest and speak up for themselves if they are being suppressed by society. An example of this was the 2011 rebellions by the common people against governments who were limiting their rights in countries such as Egypt and Libya.

Does everyone deserve to be free?

I think everyone deserves to be free. Although you might do something wrong and get some privileges confiscated from you, you still deserve to be free because everyone makes mistakes. No matter who you are, what your occupation, religion, gender, status, race, and so forth, you should have freedom. Everyone should be treated fairly and freely, and should have the right to do what ever right and just thing there is to do. We all deserve to have equal freedom and rights. Everyone deserves to be free.

I think everyone deserves to be free, unless they have done something very bad. If they haven't done anything wrong then they should be aloud to do as much as anyone else. Even if you have done something very bad, you should still have basic writes. You should be able to talk to anyone you want to, practice what religion you want to, and other basic things. It isn't fair to not let people have their basic writes because they are our equals, and they haven't done anything bad.

What is Freedom?

There are many different types of freedom such as freedom of religion, freedom of speech and the freedom of press. Though I think freedom is the ability to express different emotions, and for people to be able to speak their own minds. Freedom can also be expressed in the form of writing, drawing or any form of creativity. I also think that freedom is to be able to try to shine to the best of your abilities, and work towards what your want.

I think everyone has the right to be free, unless you have committed a serious crime. If you have committed a serious crime but you regret doing it, then after you get out of prison you can try to fix your mistake. By fixing your mistakes you will be a happier person and you will be free from regret. People who are free have the right to talk to people they would to talk to. Everyone should be treated with respect. You can't do something and when another person wants to do it you won't let them. They have the freedom to do it. You can't control other people to do what you want them to do. Therefore, everyone deserves to be free.

I agree with you and disagree with you. I only disagree with the statement about being free if you commited a serious crime. If you have commited a serious crime, yes if you felt guilty after u get out of prisiom you could try to fix it, but even if they did commit it they still have the right to be free. Though when they did they wasted their own freedom. Thats why i disagree but is agree with every thing else

i think that the people who are chained today, are the people who are ignorant. if you go around not knowing things, you will not learn many things. if you don't know anything, you won't vote for the right people, make the right decisions or do the right things. the people who are truly chained are the ones that don't know they they are.

I somewhat disagree with this, because the fact that some people are chained is what causes them not to know things. They could have limited rights and be restrained from the truth, and not have learned how to do the right thing and make proper decisions, because they've been chained and held back all their lives.

What is freedom?

In my opinion, freedom is the ability to let ones emotion go yet control ones mind and body. What I'm trying to say is a person shouldn't get to carried away emotionally that they're willing to kill. A person should be able to express their emotion yet have the mindset to control their mind and body. Lets say you live in New York city. New York City as we all know is very high paced and quick moving city. Everyone is always going from place to place The ability for that person who lives in New York to put their mind in a slow moving area where they can thrive is freedom. Freedom lets a person control themselves in a way where they do not feel pressured, worried, or anxious.

I think this because if you did something bad during your life time and went to prison, they should let them free because they can make up for their mistakes. For example, women in the old days didn't have a certain right to vote, and men could. I disagree because since I'm a boy I need to stick for the girls side because if women didn't vote we wouldn't even have a leader. That's why people should deserve to be free.

Being chained, is having your ideas corrupted by others around you for the wrong reasons. In order to unchain yourself you must think upon yourself to really find out what is morally right. each video presented in the presentation explains how views of other people can change those without fulling understandin what is going on. I would like to give a key note: i believe by listening to "Where is the Love" by the Black Eyed peas" really gave a understanding on what it really means to be chained, and what we must do to break free. Where is the love?!?!? If only I knew

Everyone deserves to be free. Even if a person has done something wrong in the passed I think that if they are truly sorry and want to change to be a better person, they deserve to be free. No matter what race or gender all people deserve to be free. Having the rights of being free is something that everyone deserves, so that there life can be of choose they make. Does everyone deserve to be free?
I think everyone deserve to be free whether they committed serious crime or lived a good life. Because I think everyone's equal in this world. People in USA, people in Afghanistan, and people who killed someone are all same. They can be different from each other, but they are all same human beings and lives on one huge nation, the earth. I don't really believe there is God, but if there is God, as Mr.Gray always says, God will forgive all the people and love all people. So, I think if people in USA say that they deserve to be free, the people in Afghanistan or murderers should deserve to be free too. And adition to this idea, some of the Koreans(I don't know about the other countries) say that every human beings are born to be kind and good-hearted, which is opposite to the original sin theory. And i believe in this too.

Does everyone deserve to be free?

I think everyone deserves to be free. People make mistakes and that in normal to human culture but that doesn't mean we have to make them do as we say instead of them making decisions. Everyone learns from mistakes so that is why they can be free because they wont do the wrong thing twice and if they do there is punishments. Also if more people are free there is more opinions in the world which is a great thing. More people able to say what they want will shape the world. If we let people be free and act the way they want it will make the world a better place to live for today and in the future. Not only does having people be free put in more ideas in the world but it will add new cultures as well. That is a great learning experience for everyone.

What is freedom?

I believe that freedom is the ability to say and think what you want without feeling guilty, persecuted, or judged. No one should be put down because of there ideas or beliefs. It is unfair, and not very moral to judge a person without really getting to know them. We may never get to know a person because we judged them too quickly and we never will have the opportunity to attempt to understand them and their perspective. It doesn’t only hurt them but it can hurt us too.

What does it mean to be chained?

I think that if someone is holding you back from what you want to do, then you are chained. For example, if a dictator of a country says one thing, the whole country has to agree with it, or they will be put in jail. In a less meaningful but still important way, if you like something that all of your friends hate, you will hear it from them for doing it.

What is freedom?
Freedom means that every single human on this earth is granted equal rights. If one person is not free than none of us are free, going back to the song at the beginning of the presentation. Yes, freedom does mean that you are granted equal rights as everyone else, but it also means that you can say what you feel. This means that everyone has a say and is not persecuted for doing so, such as the right to practice your own religion in whatever countries. To be free also means that you feel free. Someone living in the United States has a lot more freedom that someone might have in the middle east, but they might not feel free. This might be because they are put discriminated. An example of this is bullying, the victim does not feel free because they can not do anything without being made fun of. The last definition of freedom is that everyone is treated equally with respect.

What does it mean to be chained?
To be chained means to do something against your will. Slaves were chained because they were forced to do work when they didn't want to. Also when you are chained, you do not get anything in return for your work because the person that is making you be chained has control over you. Slaves also didn't get paid so i think slaves are the best example of the people who are getting chained. Also, people who are chained are usually abused, and slaves were abused

Many people are chained today. General people who are chained include race groups such as African Americans, and religious groups such as Muslim. These groups are the but end of many racist jokes. Also poor people in poverty are chained with are goverment not doing enough to help homeless citizens. We have laws that help richer people. Finally people with mental illness or gay people are always descriminated against with names like "retard" or "fag". People will make fun of other people over the slightest differences.

What does it mean to be chained?

When chained you are held back, your restricted. You are restricted from vocalizing your opinions, your rights, and your ideas. I, personally, don't believe anyone should be restricted from contributing to society with their own ideas and chaining someone down is one is one of the worst things you can do to a person. However, being chained doesn't mean you have to bear the pain and wait for someone to free you, you have the power to free yourself. While you are chained you have to fight with words, you have to make people believe in you and your ideas so that you are respected and able to be unchained.

You are in captivity of others. You have no say, no opinions, and no freedom. You are struggling to have your freedom, but you can't do anything. Owning other peoples home country is not what I believe that's right. The world is for everyone to share and thrive together. Everyone in the world should hold hands and sing together instead of fighting each other. If you want to free yourself, you just can't wait for it to happen, you have to try to make it happen.

What is Chained?

When one first hears the word chained your immediate reaction is imagining someone in handcuffs. In many cases this is true. But being chained is also a mental state. When a person is chained mentally, they are not free to state their beliefs or ideas. This occurs because of greed. When a political leader becomes too power hungry, they begin to take control over the people: controlling their ideas, and restricting their beliefs.
